2002 Brickyard Pace Car #1 – GMMG Performance Edition PR1
May 22, 2001- ORIGINAL BUILD DATE: Special Event Build for Indy Brickyard - COPO
June 29, 2001 Delivered to National Car Rental in Indianapolis with 8 miles
July 2, 2021 Put in service for the race & assigned #1 to Mary Hulman George
August 5, 2001 - 68 miles 2001 Indy Brickyard Race was held
August 24, 2001 - 74 miles - Car was promised to me (Larry Christensen) by Scott Settlemire & it was shipped to GMMG
GMMG prepared & built the car as a Collector Edition #PR1 – Phase I – 380hp - COPO
Later GMMG changed the name to Performance Edition & they sent new emblems
August 30, 2001 thru September 3, 2001 - GMMG returned the car to Indianapolis to be used as a promotional car for the US Nationals NHRA 50th Anniversary event held at this event the car was used during as a grudge race against the GMMG Chevrolet B4C Cop Car. Kurt Johnson drove the B4C & Tommy Hammond drove PR1. Of course, PR1 won the race.
PR1 was present at the NHRA Event & I (Larry) picked it up & drove it to Denver after the race.
September 4, 2001, I drove it to Purifoy Chevrolet to do the title work on the car. It had 1,600+ miles.
August 29, 2001 - 68 miles - Purifoy was invoiced the car from GM on
October 15, 2001 the car was shipped to GMMG to be upgraded to a Phase II
Mike Carnahan built the motor.
Performance Edition & included installing a 6 speed that was swapped out with a ZL1 GMMG was building.
The car was dyno tuned at 425HP to the rear wheels.

I have gathered the following items for PR1 - #1 Brickyard Pace Car
#1 License Plate
Invoice Phase 1 dated 8-24-02. Actually, should be 2001 Invoice Phase 2 dated 10-15-03
2 each - Collector Edition fender emblems - original ones that were changed later to Performance Edition
2 each Key Chains Performance Edition
1 each - Console Emblem performance edition - I never changed it should still have the collector edition emblem on it Document from Scott Settlemire concerning the build counts for the Z4C cars Email from Scott concerning build counts dated
7-16-2002 GM Hand Out with the info and pictures of the 35th anniversary car
Pair of new original Performance Edition floor mats 35th Anniversary Carpet mat
2 each Brickyard 400 door decals
2 each - Wing Decals for front fender
Story board I had made when I first got the car as a Phase 1
Emailed document from Jim Harrison listing information, he has on the #1 car from the race Nascar Decal I removed from the doors of the car
