I was talking with a pal over the weekend & we got on the subject of tightening the cars up.
I got to thinking (always a bad thing) that we've never had the discussion on the Forum so here goes........... Please add your 2 cents.........
SUB FRAME CONNECTORS & STRUT TOWER BRACE?
Do I need them? If you drive your GMMG a lot like I do I say 100% yes. Especially the 435 hp GMMG's & up. If you don't drive them then no big deal.
If you don't drive your GMMG then NO.
Why? I am not sure why GMMG never put them on. I stand corrected - see Aaron's post below. Sub Frame Connectors take out the flex & twisting of the F-Body.
Put some RPM's on your GMMG & shift - notice how the car tends to drift a little? Sub frame connectors tighten things up. HUGE DIFFERENCE!
Bolt on or weld on? I have done both - it's a matter of personal preference. If bolt on you could take them off & move to another car.
Where can I get them? SLP & BMR are just a couple of the companies that have them - (in colors) - search the internet
Cost? Sub-Frame Connectors - $350 & up
STRUT TOWER BRACE?
I'd install one on any 4th Gen no matter what the horsepower- It tightens up the front end & shocks - again a big difference.
It's an easy 10 minute install with a 15MM wrench & deep dish socket (be careful not to break off the studs they will be tight) - Even I can do it!
Cost? Strut Tower Brace - Under $100
STREET DRAG RADIALS?
Do I need them? - One problem with the larger motor GMMG's is traction. The facotry tiresa are too hard & you loose grip
Street Drag Radials are softer & grip far better. *** Be careful in the rain!
I run a BFG - g-Force Street Drag Radials (P275/4017R) on Berger SS #45 & they are great. BUT NOT for AUTO-CROSS!
