2015 GMMG Registry Year in Review

The GMMG Forum is 2 years old with 210+ members, over 5,100 posts with over 1,420 topics. Here’s a link to join. You don’t need to own a GMMG to participate.

We ended 2014 with the loss of our dear friend J.D Le Blanc . J.D. founded the GMMG Forum board and is missed greatly by his friends and family. His great knowledge of all things GMMG is also very much missed. RIP J.D. !

The 1st Annual GMMG Gathering was held at the Camaro Nationals in Frederick, MD this past June. Thank you to all those who attended! The weather was not perfect for the event but thankfully all the GMMG cars were inside nice and dry!

The 2nd Annual GMMG Gathering will be at the 2016 Berger Show – August 20 in conjunction with the Metro Cruise in Grand Rapids, MI. All GMMG’s including Blackbirds & Home Depot Trucks are welcome. We are working out the final details with Berger Chevrolet and Gary @ WMCC. It appears we will have designated parking (Hopefully inside).

The GMMG Registry continues preserve, gather and document GMMG built cars. We also continue to help owners with selling their cars as well as helping new buyers verify cars they are purchasing.

Scott Settlemiere (F-body Father) retired this fall – 2015. He was with GM many years and was a huge influence on the GMMG program and another guy that will be missed. Hopefully we’ll see Scott at some shows in the future!

There have been cars for sale recently that have had misinformation & we’ve attempted to help the sellers correct it so that prospective GMMG buyers know what they are buying. There has been a few tribute or clone cars also that were being advertised as genuine GMMG’s. Please feel free to let us know when you see any GMMG’s for sale.

We’ve had a few requests wanting all the specs to build a GMMG car. There is no way the Registry will support or assist anyone attempting to clone/copy a GMMG. If you know of anyone attempting to clone a GMMG we’d like info. We are attempting to protect the value of genuine GMMG’s and don’t want any clones on the market.

The GMMG Registry has acquired the Trademarked GMMG Inc. name recently. This was done with preservation in mind for all current and future owners. The name had been left open for anyone to acquire and we felt compelled to protect the name so we can continue to use it for the Registry and keep people from trying to clone parts with the GMMG name on them. We have had a few cases where GMMG items were trying to be duplicated . This will let us put a end to that by holding the Trademark rights. We have reached out to Matt Murphy several times with no response unfortunately. The Trademark process was lengthy and a somewhat costly endeavor but it is a done deal!

What would you like to see on the Registry? What can we do to make it better? Please let us know.

Ongoing Registry funding is a long-term issue. Jim, Aaron and Jim do not profit in any way from the Registry. There are many donated hours spent towards keeping the Registry current.

Thank you for everyone’s ongoing support and we hope you and your families have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you to all of you who keep the registry alive and well, to include keeping the GMMG namesake relevant and, as an owner, rewarding. Have a great 2016 everyone!

2015 was a great year. Especially finding the GMMG Dale Jr. Prototype. I don't see any listing for the Wild Card GMMG's on the registry you posted on the thread.

After all some of the Wild Card GMMG's were 1 offs and special builds.

Great update Jim. Glad to hear the news of upcoming developments for the Registry as a whole. Just like many others, I completely support the preservation of GMMG bloodlines away from the threat of cloning.
