Sunday was the end of an ERA. My son sold his very first car when he turned 16. The 1979 Camaro Berlinetta he bought of the estate of the original owner, was sold yesterday. The original owner owned the car for 17 years while my son owned the car for 19 years. It was kind of a bitter sweet ending seeing the LS6 454 fire up after being sitting for months without any starting fluid and driving up on to the car trailer. It had a great sound with that Comp cam we installed to get rid of the factory solid lifter cam topped off with Harlan Sharpe roller rockers, Edlebrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake manifoid and brand new Proform 750 CFM carb. My son really did not want to sell it since the car was not listed for sale anywhere but really could not afford race fuel for the 11.3 to 1 compression LS6. He and I attended the NEOCC Fall Classic back in 2004 where the car sustained damage inside an enclosed trailer on the way to the show. My son was so pissed about that he totally lost interest in the car for the next 11 years. This Berlinetta was factory fully loaded except for T-Tops and even had the very rare PE1 urethane wheel option. My wife even cried seeing it go on the trailer because she had many memories of her dad riding in this car and it was also built on his birthday. The original full size white letter spare tire mounted on one of the original color coded PE1 wheels sits on display in the basement man cave and when the buyer asked if this tire was from the Berlinetta my wife said yes but it is not going with the car. I was shocked to hear her say that. We still have tons of rare 2nd gen parts to sell. I did take some video of the car on my phone so Ryan can see it. :(

Here is what the car looked and sounded like.
