replacement tires for my Tom Henry Camaro #15

I guess my luck is going to be all bad. After waiting almost seven full months to get my car back from repairs, it wouldn't pass emissions testing when my tag ran out in November. I haven't been driving it much, so that may have something to do with it. I have been trying to drive it more and have it re-tested so..... Saturday it was close to seventy degrees and was driving to work with the top down when the right front tire literally exploded-at 80 miles an hour. The complete carcass came off of the tire knocking a huge chuck out of the fender just behind the tire. Luckily, I was able to get the car stopped and on the shoulder to find the only thing keeping the car off of the rim was about 2 inches of sidewall both on the outer and inner edges of the rim. I quickly got the jack and spare out, only to find the spare had no air in it. About 15 minutes later, help arrived and we pumped up the "donut" and got the car home. My question is this, what are good replacements for the OEM tires I had on there(they were only three years old having been in a climate controlled storage before mounting and roughtly 10,000 miles on them). I have had my fill of Goodyear and since they don't make the OEM tires that came on the car anyway-it's time for a better tire. I have neard BFG g force comp II are pretty good-any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't drive the car in snow or rain-it only sees sunny days and dry roads.

I have heard and read very good things about Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They are going to be on the expensive end, but I have read nothing but awesome reviews about them. I just bought Blackird #3 and the GY's should be around 90%, if I had to replace them, I would be buying the Michelins. Hope that points you in the right direction.

Just so all of you know...................................Michelin owns both B.F. Goodrich and Uniroyal so when you purchase a B.F. Goodrich or Uniroyal tire, you are still purchasing Michelin technology.

Has anyone gone with a "staggered" setup? I was thinking of going 265-40-17 in front and 285-40-17 in rear. Car gets driven less than 3500 miles annually so rotation is not really an issue. Was wondering of anyone had used something similar-the Goodyear eagle f1's in front made car "darty"-It found every groove in pavement and made car seem like it had a mind of it's own. Thought maybe smaller width in front would possibly cut-down on that???

I have it narrowed down to either:

Sumitomo HTR Z III

Conti Extreme Contact DW

BF Goodrich G-Force Comp II

Anyone out there have these or tries these tires?

I would recommend the B.F. Goodrich tire over the Continental/General tire or the Sumitomo tire.
