DESCRIPTION
One of the most prolific and well respected designers at GM, John Cafaro is well known as the Chief Designer of the C5 Corvette and has been involved in Corvette design since 1991. He was also responsible for the bodywork and graphic design for the Chevrolet Raceshop and GM Motorsports from 1992-1999. His designs have won Motor Trend Car of the Year for the 1984 Corvette, the Autoweek Magazine Award for the 1997 Corvette Coupe, North American International Auto Show Car of the Year (1998 Corvette convertible) and Motor Trend Car of the Year (1998 Corvette convertible).
It is no surprise then to know that Cafaro would go the extra miles in personalizing his own C5 Corvette convertible offered here. A 2004 model with only 9,298 miles, its most noticeable feature is the chopped windshield and resulting lower convertible top, which together remove eight inches from the car’s overall height. Emphasizing this are a high-rise hood, a Skunk Werkes body kit with front canard spoilers, body-color strakes in the side vent outlets and a unique rear spoiler. Lowered suspension takes it even closer to the road, where it rides on HRE 20" rear and 19" front wheels with Dunlop Sport 9000 rubber all around. A specially designed Corsa system adds a unique note to the Vette’s already sweet-sounding LS1 exhaust note.
Inside the driver is treated to custom suede upgrades on the steering wheel, door pulls, shifter knob and boot, and both power seats are fitted with competition Simpson harnesses.
With all the interest that has developed in earlier “designer-edition” special Corvettes, this fifth-generation Corvette convertible, daringly customized and driven by its creator, should generate a great deal of attention from collectors.
Highlights:
- Customized by Chief C5 Corvette Designer John Cafaro
-10" chopped windshield
- High rise hood
- Skunk Werkes body kit with front canards
- Body side strakes
- Unique rear spolier

Very interesting. Do you know what they were? I've heard Matt may have built a few for export. Wondering if this is 1 or 2 of them?
You have a lot of great photos. Do you know anything about this COP car? (white/blue). Now that I think about it I pretty sure this was the car for sale on E-Bay recently? I didn't pay any attention to it & never saved it.
I know the blue car was sold summer - 2012 - don't know where it ended up.
Thanks for sharing. Jim

Looking closer at the pics . . . the Corvette that can be seen closest to the building is a C6 . . . the C5 is on the right next to the 35th convertible.
I only remember Matt having the white cop car. . . . He found it on accident perusing used Camaros . . and determined it had been the marketing car for GM . . he then "recreated it" . . the big decal on the hood is "F-Bodys Arrive Alive" a pledge taken after some people had died in a street racing accident at the Georgia Gathering

I have had that exact blue B4C in my Garage before with the lights flashing! The neighbors thought I was being busted for something.

Okay guys this is another one of mine. Matt and I both bought these at the same time. Matt M was blue and mine the yellow one. The cars were purchase from John C or Skunkwerks if you want to call it that so that we might make a project of it.
They are both Real Z06 cars. The glass or windshild were not chopped but instead used all GM parts and bolted them on a the Z06.
My car was LS6 Stage 2X making around 550HP. The wheels are not HRE wheels. Matt bought like 75 sets. I just chromed mine to make them look better.

Description
One-of-a-kind, this 2001 Z06 is a very rare breed with a special order prototype #1 GMMG/Skunk Werks Corvette convertible. One of the two convertibles made, this is the only one to have the GMMG Phase 2X6R Package, LS6 5.7 Liter 525hp, 500 ft/lbs of torque. The 2X6R package includes seriously modified LS6 heads with a race version cam, header setup, GMMG chambered exhaust cat-back system and GMMG air box. This mean 'Vette sits lowered on custom chrome lightweight 18" front and 19" rear wheels. This convertible package was one of two built by Skunk Werks that went into the US, and one of six built overall, the other four went to Canada. The PR Corvette started as a coupe and has a custom built and designed body kit that John Cafaro and Henry Lovine of Skunk Werks added to the car. GMMG was in the development stages of building 50 of these Z06 convertible Corvettes when the project was cancelled due to timing of the release of the C6 Corvette and vendor related problems. This true, very rare, special PR 1 Z06 order prototype #1 Corvette is the one and only, ever.
