As we all know ethanol ( at least 10%) is in about every gas pump in America. I understand there are a very few pumps that are ethanol free but none in my neck of the woods.

Recently, I was getting the chains for my Stihl 026 chainsaw sharpened and the guy at the shop, Jimmy, recommened that I use Lucas 'Safeguard' ethanol fuel conditioner. Its designed to prevent corrosion and degradation in ethanol fuels from E-10 all the way up to pure alcohol. Further, Jimmy said to use it in every 2 and 4 stroke engine I own.

Most of us know that all modern engines are built to handle 10% corn jucie so I questioned Jimmy - why in the 4 strokes? Because Safeguard helps protect the motor oil from the harmful side effect of alcohol combustion - i.e. oil dilution causing viscosity break-down. Whoda thunk It? .. :confusion-shrug: .

So I grabbed a 16 oz bottle for around 8 bucks and change. One oz treats 5 gallons so cost is not a factor. For storage (some of our GMMG cars) Jimmy said use the Safeguard along with Sta-Bil and I'll be Good-to-Go.

Food for thought guys.

Enjoy your cars.....

It's available in Wyoming - Dubois - where we ride snowmobiles.

I'll have to check this year for local for BP. They had it last year.
