Ok............. I KNOW it's a pain in the butt, but the bot prevention that I have enabled has proven itself over the last 6 years to be the ONLY way that has been successful in preventing 99.99% of the spam bots from making a total mess of forums.
How it works,
There is an initial USERNAME and PASSWORD that must be entered when registering AND everytime you login........it stays the same, but BOTS can't read it, so they can't duplicate it automatically.
USERNAME: gmmg
PASSWORD: member
It's easy enough to do, and I promise, if it wasn't enabled, you'd regret it
The reason this is turned on now, is J.D. asked me to enable registrations that didn't require his "authentication" ... so, in order to keep the bots out of the forum, this has to be enabled.........the "captcha" thing is pretty worthless really, they have bots that can read those better than I can However, my apache access authentication has proven very hard to crack even after 6 years of being in place on other forums.... you get the occasional idiot that registers just to spam and manually types the authentication in when posting.....but soon learn that it's just a way to be a pita to do that everytime they get banned
Anyway... I tested it, seems to be working correctly... if you have any issues, let me know.
