My son and I got his 1979 Camaro with LS6 454 recently running. We changed out the Holley 780 CFM carb for a brand new Proform 750 CFM carb he bought several years ago. The Holley had a bad power valve causing the engine to run a bit rich and really runs well now right out of the box. The Proform carb air horn is much larger than the Holley so a new air cleaner base is needed. I also installed two Visteon C&R Racing electric cooling fans and wired them into a temperature controller that is adjustable. The fans work perfect and cycle on when needed. He drove it around the block several times to get the rust off the rear brake rotors. The left rear brake caliper is seeping a bit of fluid so it will need to be replaced. At least any auto parts store can get the caliper since the rear end is from a 1979 Trans AM Anniversary Edition with WS6. We changed the old original steering wheel that had some vinyl dye flaking off it for a nice Z28 carmel colored factory rope wheel.
