An original 1969 all aluminum big block ZL-1 427 c.i.d. engine out of the Floyd Garrett Muscle Car Museum was auctioned today at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. The engine sold for $80,000 plus the commision of $8,000 for a grand total of $88,000. One of this forum boards members (Charley L.) was one of the final bidders and at the end it was between Charley and another gentleman. Charley allowed the other guy to be the winning bidder. It was nice to see ya on T.V. again Charley. :D

I've seen this engine a number of times while at Floyd's. He also has a number of both big and small blocks on engine stands along one wall in his museum. They are an impressive display of Chevy powerplants...

Wow that is a ton of cash for an engine. My son is selling his 1970 date coded LS6 454 that he bought from the original owner that bought it brand new in the crate at a Chevy dealer in 1990 and did not install it until 2001in a 1969 Camaro. If you anyone looking for an original GM LS6 crate engine let me know. :)
