I met with Matt Berger on Sept. 30, 2013 & we talked 'GMMG' for awhile.
One of the more interesting discussions was about the Dick Harrell cars.
Over $440,000 was spent just for the wide-body kit.
As far as I can determine only 34 total wide-body cars were built.
2 Prototypes (PR1 & 2) - 30 numbered cars - Drag Car 1 (DC1) & 1 wide body Convert Prototype (DH-PRCV)
Divide by 34 cars & that’s $13k per car. That is just one of the reasons the Dick Harrell cars are so much more than any other GMMG's.
DH-PRCV - 'wide-body' convert ..............
Here's what I understand happened with the only 'wide-body' convert built. (DH-PRCV). This information has come from many sources & if you have something to add, please contact me direct.
GMMG built prototypes & then revealed them in hopes of getting approval & building a series of numbered cars. The prototype (PR) cars were first built in the model prior to approval & are the rarest GMMG's of all.
There has been a lot of discussion & speculation about the only 'wide-body' convertible built. PRCV is a prototype car that was built & is 1 of 1.
I have been informed by Valarie Harrell that this car was not authorized.
By the time this car was finished things had changed @ GMMG & Val never approved building Dick Harrell Converts.
I have been told from Mike Carnahan that the car was built & Matt Murphy & Mike took Valerie Harrell to see the car. The 'wide-body' convertible project never got approved for what ever the reason. None the less the car was built by GMMG, it is a prototype & in my mind at the very top of the list as the GMMG to own.
I have been working with the owner in AZ & Jim @ MW Classics in MO for almost a year and a half trying to find a home for DH- PRCV.
The car has been on E-Bay & everyone seems to be 'gun-shy' about this car. WHAT?????
It can't be called a Dick Harrell GMMG but this is the only 'wide-body' GMMG Convert ever built! IT'S A PROTOTYPE! It just so happens that it is also the highest horsepower GMMG built @ 750 hp.
Here's where I'm coming from on DH-PRCV............ (from Jim Smith)
I know the owner & we've talked a number of times about his collection. Trigger has already purchased 2 from the collection (PE #17 & #29 both converts).
I know the broker (Jim) from MW Classics in MO & we talk often.
As a GMMG Collector if I had to choose only 1 GMMG to own DH-PRCV would be the one for me. Unfortunately the car is so far out of my league I could never own it but there are a few who could. You know who you are. I consider PRCV one of a very few Iconic GMMG's ever built.
If you have any interest in this car & can get you in touch with me (Jim Smith) & I can assist. If the car is sold through the Registry we ask for 1/2% from the seller & buyer to help support the Registry costs.
