I have photos from that event somewhere. I also was able to get one of the 30 extra Berger SS white dash faces that Matt Murphy, Scott Settlemire, Helen Gibb, Matt Berger all signed that day. I have one of the two ZL1 tee shirts that was passed around and signed by every ZL1 owner that was in attendance. The other shirt was auctioned off at Camaro Super Fest in the silent auction so who knows who owns it.

In response to the "question-is that Helen Gibb"....yes it is.......also the picture with the Z's sitting in front of the building, that's the old Fred Gibb dealership building. Now an implement dealer I believe. Corect me if I'm wrong but I believe the 4 cars were delivered around midnight,Dec.31st as were the originals.
My brother and I grew up in a small Illinois river/farm community about 4o minutes from LaHarpe,Ill. My dad sold Chevrolets and Oldsmobiles and was a friend of Fred. Also, thanks to getting certain "codes info" from Gibbs,my dad also ordered a couple "different" Chevys back in 68-70. They were no where near the super Camaro/Nova status that Fred had but nevertheless they were still pretty cool sleepers!
As for the Delivery Day,It was on a cold December 31st as well. One of the local TV channels(WGEM/Quincy,Ill) had it on a special news that evening.
My brother and I always tried to follow the "special Chevrolet" things going on at Gibb's and elsewhere and always "dreamed of owning one someday. My brother finally got his wish and aquired #7 of the 100 that Berger had "built at GMMG and although it wasn't of the "super car" staus of the Z's,it certainly was his pride and joy. My brother passed away a few years ago after fighting cancer but my niece keeps that dream alive.
