Thanks for the heads up on this car Gary......................

BUYER BE AWARE & BE SUPER CAREFUL ON THIS ONE.

I talked with the dealer last week & he lied about the car a number of times. One of our members might have been interested.

Original owner was Tom from ILL. Car was sold @ auction in 2006 or 2007 for $88k (good money back then BUT way too much now)

The dealer had no clue what the car is...........

I asked why the price was so high (should be a mid $40k car with 400 motor). My PE #37 is just like a ZL1 except for the badging – for sale). Long pause & the reply was we lowered it from $79k. This might have been a low $40k’s car & you can buy 400's under $50k.... I know of 2 for sale.

I asked how long they had the car & by the time he gave me an answer I thought he hung the phone up. -- over 180 days.... didn’t really know.

Gary sent me a photo..... car was outside in the used car lot with snow on it – rotors are all rusted up. I asked if the car was inside & they insisted it was. I told them I was in town & I was coming right over to see the car & the phone went dead.

Someone installed goofy ZL1 decals & the GMMG badges on the front fenders shouldn’t be there. The car is a mess.

Send an e-mail like you are interested & when he calls you back ask a bunch of questions & light him like like I did? Mess with them – they deserve it for lying.

Lies, lies, lies. I’d never buy from this used car dealer. Jim

Wow. Someone has decorated it up. I would imagine the incorrect decals could be removed , and the GMMG emblems on the side..well folks will pay a huge price for them. However his pricing is way out there for a 400 HP car. Granted it is a rare ZL1 but not quite worth that kind of money. I will say this.. some may disagree ... I don't foresee any GMMG 380 HP cars going any where up in price anything within the next 10 yrs in price unless they have special provenance . Now the phase 2 HP cars..yes. HP sells and folks want rare HP cars. To me that is no more than a 30/35k car. At a risk she will climb in price. It wont see 76K on the auction block by 2022. Not as rare as some think. Even though a ZL1. Remember it is only 20HP over a base car. Don't let the ZL 1 drag you to pay extra. I will give the guy a call.. I just purchased a rare 1995 Callaway 475 HP SuperNatural Camaro. Maybe he is in for a Horse Trade because.. It has more HP and is rarer. Just 5 coupes built in 95. 14 total 94 thru 96. I know my way to Indy..

The dealer lied to me - said the car was inside & it was outside on the used car lot with snow on it. I have photos in the snow.... see it on the ground in 1st photo?

Yes, base ZL1 400 hp - no big deal & not worth $75k.

CJ called me today asking for help selling the car. I told him the story of the car being outside & we had photos to support this.

He insisted the car has always been inside & I didn't get the straight story again so I sent him photos of the car in the snow.

I hate to be a 'dick' but I have no interest in assisting & don't appreciate being lied to. I don't not trust this dealership.

I expect others to be honest & forthright with me. When they are not I'm out & will tell everyone I know so they are not taken advantage of.

I feel the Registry has an obligation to tell it like it is. The good, bad & ugly. It's all part of the history on any car.

If you were a prospective buyer wouldn't you like to know the 'whole-story' if it was available so there were no surprises?

His e-mail to me on July 5, 2016.......................

Hello!

I have been scrolling through your registry site for the special edition Camaro ZL-1's all morning, really cool and incredibly informative! We purchased this unit from a private collector who is friends with my boss (the owner) along with a dozen other special edition cars, boats, and motorcyles he was looking to sell.

We are a luxury import dealer selling a variety of super cars and luxury cars and we know that our dealership is not the proper avenue to market this car and find it the right owner. I was wondering if you could be of any assistance or possibly would know any collectors interested in it? I am willing to make someone a heck of a deal on it! Let me know, I appreciate all the help and info you posted on your website! Thanks

Second e-mail..................... after I sent photos.............

Jim,

Thanks for your time, as well as the pictures! While I can give you my word that the car has been indoors the last 3 months I will admit I was out of the country throughout the winter and it looks like someone made a horrible decision to move this outside mid winter, regardless of how long it was out in the elements.

Hey buddy, I hope you are feeling well.

This is my home email. I left that job I was emailing you from.

Remember the White ZL1 at the used car lot in Indianapolis?

It has a BAD title. Check out my image! Attached.

I guess they found out when they got the title so they could auction it at the Mecum Auction in Indy?

Thanks!

Gary
