While visiting Jeff Gassen & finalizing HRE 2000 I decided to buy his dad's 46 Pontiac.

This will be a nice summertime project. Was repainted over 25 years ago - in climate controlled storage - chrome is new or replaced.

1946 Pontiac Streamliner – 2 door - Torpedo

Barn Find

8 cylinder – 3 speed – fender skirts

Here’s the story…………

The ’46 is a classic example of a 100% stock - unmolested - original car with no modifications.

The ’46 has been sitting most of the last 25 years coming out only for parades. It was not started for 7 or 8 years & was always on a battery tender.

I’ve known about this car for a number or years. A pal’s dad had many old cars in a climate controlled showroom. He was 89 when he passed & the kids have the task of selling his collection. The ‘46 was always in a heated & air conditioned showroom.

The ’46 was redone 25 or 30 years ago. Repainted, replaced or cleaned up all the chrome. The paint still looks great today – stock interior.

The interior is great with only a minor tear on the driver’s seat up high.

Recent mechanicals – May 2014

New battery, drain old gas, clean carburetor, check brakes, check antifreeze, change oil, and clean points & plugs.

The car runs & drives great & is so solid. It’s even better than I remember. I have decided to leave the engine bay alone & not clean & repaint because is add to the originality. The paint shines great.

With HRE #2000 on the way home.
