Hello!

I have been searching the web for weeks but i cant find the info i want on the Phase 2X-475hp pontiac modifications. I know the engine mods, but can anyone please tell me what is the minimum that has to be done to a gmmg phase 2x 475hp car when ordered?

Did they change the brakes, wheels and parts to improve handling to be a 475hp phase 2x or can these parts be stock and only the engine is upgraded?

How much is upgraded on a phase 2x 475 hp compared to a stock trans am from the same year?

Can someone please help!

Thanks!

I am going to give this a shot based on the invoices I have for my P2X and other information I have compiled. The base P2X package was mainly an engine upgrade because the base Blackbird package already came with the Eibach lowering springs, TT's, dimpled rotors, and Eagle F1's. I know the brake calipers and valve covers were painted red and HP updated to reflect upgrades on the hood. The power adders included cam, heads, LT's, catted Y, and 4:10 gears out back. The items Jim mentioned above could be added to the package as well. There is a post on here that goes into detail about the engine upgrade and power that it makes, I will leave a link below for you. There is not much that is stock left mechanical wise on a P2X, it is a totally different animal, I have owned a stock 2001 Firehawk and my P2X is not even in the same conversation. Hope this helps.

Damien Scott and GMMG blackbird tank you for answers!

I also have the impression that the engine upgrade is the only mod that has to be done when upgrading to a phase 2x 475hp.

Thanks!

On an "Ordered", "Brand New", from the "Dealer" Berger SS, the highest package you could get was a 435 Phase II . . . and ONLY available in 2002

There were only TWO packages available at order for the 2002 Berger SS, Phase I and Phase II.

In 2000 the Phase I was only rated 375 HP . . on 2001 and 2002 the Phase 1 was rated at 380.

In 2001 only ONE Phase II was built for Matt Berger.

In 2002 the Phase II became available for the first time to the public. The Phase II was ONLY engine upgrades. There were 9 built.

To get a Phase II you had to get the Phase I package (info on that can be found on GMMG site)

Again . . I STRESS at time of ORDER . . . and this only applies to Berger SS's - since this is the Berger SS forum.

Now they could be sent back to GMMG at any time there after for other packages that Matt and the crew dreamed up . .

Ultimately ANY GMMG built car would have to have the Phase I package installed at a minimum to get future upgrades.
