I'm a proponent of both Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil and Mobil 1 synthetic oil filters. I have used both for many years now. I know that we all have our own personal preference particularly when it comes to motor oil and sometimes oil filters as well.

When I owned my automotive business I was able to purchase Mobil 1 oil filters at a reasonable cost from Prends in Louisanna but now that I no longer own that business, I'm like everyone else and have to purchase them from AutoZone or O'Reilly Auto Parts. I've been looking for a place that I can order them from on the internet and have them delivered to me here at home and I found it today. The website is:

http://www.filtersandwipers.com

I chatted on line with Jim D there and found him to be very nice and helpful. I wanted to order filters for my wife's 2009 Chevy Cobalt. The filter her car takes is a Mobil 1 M1C-151. AutoZone has these priced at $19.99 each, O'Reilly Auto Parts has them for $15.99 each and http://www.filtersandwipers.com has them for $13.99 each. When you order from http://www.filtersandwipers.com you have to order a minimum of 6 which is no problem and they charge a $5.79 shipping fee for any size order according to the website. I also checked on the filter for my Silverado and Tahoe which is a M1-212. O'Reilly Auto Parts has these for $12.99 each and AutoZone has them for $10.99 each so I also checked http://www.filtersandwipers.com and they too were $12.99 each so I went on-line with them and chatted with Jim D (who is the owner of the business I suspect) and asked him if he would price match AutoZone. He told me he would check so I am guessing he checked their website as I told him that this was AutoZone's every day price. He came right back to me and said he had went in and adjusted his price to match theirs on this particular oil filter. So..............I ordered 6 of the M1C-151 filters for my wife's Cobalt and 6 of the M1-212's for my Silverado and Tahoe and I was only charged $5.79 to ship all 12 filters ! ! ! !

I also checked the price on the M1-206 which would fit the GMMG Camaros and Firebirds and his price on them was $8.99 each compared to $12.99 at both O'Reilly Auto Parts and AutoZone. Here in Iowa we have 6% sales tax so filters purchased locally would be $13.77 each for the M1-206 including sales tax vs. $9.47 each from http://www.filtersandwipers.com including shipping. :D

I also asked Jim D at http://www.filtersandwipers.com if he would consider becoming a sponsor here on the GMMG Registry Forum Board and he indicated that he would "most likely" become a sponsor of the GMMG Registry Forum Board :D .

I use Mobil one in several of my cars but only a GM oil filter with the anti drain back valve. I get my Mobil 1 from Walmart. They are the cheapest around for oil. :)

Greg................I too purchase my Mobil 1 oil at Wal-Mart.

Champ Labs builds both the Mobil 1 Oil Filter AND the AC Delco oil filters. I phoned their technical hotline today and verified this. The two Mobil 1 oil filters that fit a 4th Gen Camaro and comparable Firebird are the M1-107 (short filter) and the M1-206 (long filter). Both of these cross-reference to the AC Delco PF58, PF59, PF61 and PF61E. Neither the Mobil 1 oil filters nor the AC Delco oil filters have a relief valve or an anti drain-back valve. Furthermore.............the Mobil 1 oil filter has a synthetic blended media and Mobil will certify this filter for 15,000 miles. AC Delco does not certify their oil filter and encourages that the filter be changed between 5,000 and 8,000 miles.

In speaking to Dave at Champ Labs....................he verified that they build just about every filter under every name EXCEPT Purolator, Wix and Bosch. Champ builds the Wal-Mart oil filter, the STP oil filter, the AC Delco oil filter, the K & N oil filter, the Royal Purple oil filter, the Mobile 1 oil filter, etc. The differences between these oil filters are the media that the oil gets passed through to trap the contaminants.

I asked Dave then what would be the best oil filter they build and he said that it would be the Royal Purple and the Fram Ultra as they use synthetic media to filter the oil and strain out the contaminants. I think I know how "most" everyone feels about Fram oil filters. :text-lol:

For me.................the Mobil 1 will continue to do fine as my GMMG Camaros will only probably see 1,000 miles or so between oil changes and my 1997 Camaro SS only sees 3,000 miles between oil changes. My daily driven vehicles do see 5,000 miles between oil changes. I use synthetic oil in every thing I own.

I use Mobil 1 in my Silverado, Camaro SS, and Saturn. I have used it in my motorhome and plan on using it again in it. I have not used it in my 1971 Pontiac GT-37 since the rear main leaks but will use it after I replace the rear main seal. I do use it my 3 ATV's. The boat has regulat SAE 30 in it's Chevy engine. My son uses Mobil 1 in his 1979 LS6 454 Camaro and his Silverado. :)

On the subject of oil filters Gents.....................

I have several ACDelco PF44 filters for sale that I got back in 2001. GM part # 25010633. These are the filters that were installed on all LS1/LS2 motors at the Romulus engine plant and were discontinued in 2004 superseded by PF46 which is the current filter.

Obviously these are for the truely Discriminating Collector....

Anyone interested? Just Lemme know and Enjoy your cars.. :auto-layrubber:
